GEZI PARK PROTESTERS
portrait project, 2013
Between 2012 and 2016, I was living in Istanbul. In the Gezi Park Protests of June 2013, a lot of friends participated. Those protests became a defining point, a turning point of Turkish politics, and in hindsight a moment of politicisation of a generation of Turkish people. Together with my friend and fellow photographer Arnold Pöschl, I tried to tell the story of those protests in staged portraits, letting our subjects tell their individual protest story.
Exhibited at ArtLane Klagenfurt (2013), Tirana Ekspres in Tirana (2014), at Fotosecession Wien (2014), during the European Month of Photography 2014 at my atelier in Vienna (2014) and as a large-format installation at Klagenfurt University (2016).
